Description
The IT Technician is responsible for providing technical support to the computer systems, networks, telephone, and software applications used by the Municipality in cooperation with the contracted Managed Services Provider (Northumberland County I.T. Department)

Compensation

Key Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Information Technology.
- Microsoft 365, Networking+, A+ or other equivalent certification preferred.
- One or more years’ direct experience in Information Technology.
- Exceptional knowledge of: Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft 365, SharePoint.
- Experience diagnosing and solving computer-related problems in a variety of ways – over the phone, remote, or in-person.
- Understanding of hosted (cloud-based) solutions, networks (protocols and standards), network security, application support, multi-factor authentication, and mobile device management.
- Exceptional knowledge of mobile computing devices and tools (smartphones, tablets, etc.).
- Valid and Satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matter Check and ‘G’ Driver’s license (access to own vehicle)
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to technical support requests and diagnose and troubleshoot problems through the help desk in a timely and efficient manner both remotely and in person.
- Install and configure hardware, software, systems, and network devices.
- Provide technical support and training to new and existing staff on the use of hardware and software and develop content and documentation.
- Monitor network alerts and backups and respond appropriately.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks to maintain a healthy network – offline devices, device patch levels, antivirus status, etc. and take remedial action.
- Coordinate and collaborate with external vendors and partners for IT projects and troubleshooting system issues.
- Maintain accurate and up to date records and notes for all repairs, upgrades, and installations.
- Setup, install and maintain mobile devices such as phones and tablets.
- Assist with the acquisition of new software and hardware.
- Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources and follow disposal procedures.
- Verify the security of information technology assets, data, network access, and backup systems of both internal and external systems.
- Assist in reviewing the effectiveness of operational standards, procedures and processes, and recommend changes.
- Requires occasional work after hours including evenings and weekends and occasional callouts.
- Regular travel to other municipal work locations.
- Flexibility to work remotely.
