Summary of the Position:
The Water Division summer student duties involve physical labour such as, but not limited to; ditch cleaning, grass cutting, weed whacking, tree pruning, landscaping, job site remediation, street box inspection, fire hydrant painting, GIS data gathering, debris and garbage pick-up, loading and unloading vehicles, digging/shoveling, raking, cleaning of facilities and job sites, moving materials and related activities.
Additional duties include maintenance and repair of Works and Engineering assets such as, but not limited to; water mains, water valves, water services, fire hydrants, pumps and membranes.
Assist as required with administrative tasks which may include filing, cataloguing, sorting, data entry and related office work.
Skill Requirements:
Similar work experience including ability to perform physical labour in outdoor and indoor settings. Must be adaptable, hard-working and have co-operative work skills. Work is primarily outside. Work may involve heavy lifting, pushing, pulling and moving of objects up to and above 20 Kg.
