Purpose of the Position:

The Day Camp Senior Team Leader is responsible to provide guidance and supervision to the staff in their planning, delivery and supervision of Day Camp participants; ensures high quality lessons and programs are being delivered in compliance with HIGH FIVE® standards, the Health and Safety Regulations; and Municipal Policies and procedures.

Summer Day Camp Staff and Volunteers

Knowledge

• 2.1       Post-Secondary education in the field of recreation, social services, childcare or equivalent preferred.
• 2.2       Standard First Aid, CPR “C” with AED or willing to obtain.
• 2.3       Experience working with children and youth.
• 2.4       HIGH FIVE ®: Principles of Healthy Child Development, or willing to obtain.
• 2.5       Previous experience with the day camp program preferred.

• 2.6      Verbal communication skills including courtesy, tact and explanation.
• 2.7     Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead a team of junior staff.
• 2.8     Creativity and enthusiasm.
• 2.9     Responsibility driven and maturity.
• 2.10   Patience and dedication.
• 2.11   Problem Solving and Initiative.
• 2.12   Excellent Interpersonal skills

3.0   OTHER

• 3.1       Valid and satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
• 3.2       Driver’s license and use of personal vehicle.
• 3.3       Able to commit to the full tern of employment and be available Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

4.0   WORKING CONDITIONS:

• 4.1   Indoor and outdoor work environment.
• 4.2   Standing, sitting, running, jumping, dancing etc. associated with active participation in sports, activities and games required.
